When I was on the highway yesterday I threw in the Scribbling Idiot's banging CD, "The Have Nots".  Let me say, if you got some thump in your ride then this is the CD to bump.  The production is bananas.  But about the group, Scribbling Idiots, if you haven't heard of this crew that consists of eleven members which are JustMe, Theory Hazit, Cas Metah, Wonder Brown, Mouth Warren, Reflex the Architect, MattMan, Motion Plus, Ruffian, Elias and Kaboose - although they don't spit Jesus in every other line these dude still rep Christ to the fullest.

To me SI makes that fun backpack music that I grew up loving.  The metaphors are sick and each emcee brings their strength to the table.  It's funny how Wonder Brown sounds like Phanatik every time he spits but I know he's not doing that on purpose, that’s just a personal side note, don't mind me.  Although individually this crew can hold its own on the solo tip, when they come together they form like Voltron to deliver a powerful product whether it's a original cd or a mixtape.

Every time I listen to these dudes it's like they're going at it in the booth, in a good way, that is.  On the cut "Almost Famous" off the Have Nots cd, Theory said,

"Get your priorities straight like heterosexuals/Cause you after the platinum plaques and anything next to go.  What about your son that's turning teen years old/Your old lady had enough, ready to go for broke.  And those friends are only your friends 'cause you got ends/Soon it'll end when you have nothing to spend.  And rapping over everyone else’s instrumental/Ain't gonna get you nowhere cause you got a week flow.  No talent, no integrity just lots of false energy/You backwards, you ain't the superhero you the enemy.  Another sad story in the hip hop culture/You just a vulture, a victim too lazy to work for/A temp service, you too proud to flip burgers/You never held a gun in your life and spit murder, on wax/My advice is you need to relax/Cause you're a nobody looking for a pat on the back.  Chasin' breadcrumbs it look like you starvin' to death/Cause the rest of your body needs to catch up with your head."

That's ill.  Who can come on the mic after that?  SI is like that click in high school that used to pound the lunch table to make a beat while everyone spits in a cypher.  They actually have a joint like that on their "Have Nots" cd called "ESeye" which is seven minutes long.  Each member of the crew spits like eight bars then the next one comes in and they keep going in circles for the duration of the song.  I love that type of stuff.  When you're in a crew like SI you have no choice but to come hard lyrically because your membership might get revoked if you don't.  Like Theory said on that "ESeye" joint,

"Hip hop is dead, I can't tell/I'm lookin' at my crew and we're alive and well."
