A good DJ should be able to give good feedback to an artist as well provide advice and direction to an artist. We also want to make sure that the artist is well informed on the journey ahead, as it will not be an easy one. We want to provide the artist basic tips from a Dj’s point of view that will touch on preparing their album, to building up a buzz, and provide quality music. We also hope that the feedback will aid in deciding if this is the right direction for you.
God Bless!

Artists Tips from DJ Official
- Have people that will tell you the truth about your music. “Yes men” will only hurt you. Go outside your circle for critiques
- Quality over quantity. It's doesn't matter if you can write a piece of music in 15 minutes. Make sure it's great.
- A song is never finished it’s just released. I once heard. You can work on a song forever. Make sure you don't overproduce.
- Try to be a little diverse on an album. 12 songs of Trap music is boring. 12 songs of backpack East Coast music is boring.
- Build your buzz with those around you. Where you live and where you travel. Spamming is looked down on and kind of annoying.
- If you can't find people to record, do beat’s, etc. Learn yourself. Sometimes it's better to do it yourself.
- Make sure this is for you. Being an artist full time is hard work. Being on the stage and being heard on cd is the easy part.
- Make sure this is for you. Buying equipment and investing into a studio is takes alot of money. Don't waste your money if it's not.
- Play to your strengths. You can't do everything. One thing might shine where another area might lack
- For your mixes. Make sure you listen to them outside your studio. In your car, iPod, iPhone, phone, tabletop radio, etc.
- Work on your stage show. Very important! This can get you new fans. Standing on stage and not moving is not a good look.
- Don't try and be the next Lecrae, Drake, JSon, whoever. Be the first you. Your top artists are great artists because they are who they are.
- YouTube is your best friend and tool. When trying to learn new recording techniques and how to do something go to YouTube.
