Enock "Still Here"
On Saturday morning, October 17, 2009, Juan "Enock" James was pronounced dead. While at his job in Houston, TX, he collapsed from what is most likely a severe heart attack. The autopsy results are not in yet to confirm the final cause of death. This was an unexpected occurence and a complete shock to his family, freinds and fans. All that is known of his condition is that he had hypertension and was on medication to stabilize his blood pressure, but nothing indicated he would suffer a heart attack.
Born on July 12, 1974 in Philadelphia, PA, Enock lived his life for the Lord until his death. Juan James was one of the founding members of The Cross Movement and is heard on Heaven's Mentality, House of Representatives and Human Emergency. In 2001, he relocated to Houston, TX to work on his solo album, AWEthentic, with Much Luvv Records. Earlier this year, Enock along with former label mate Cruz Cordero, made a guest appearance on the song "Da Body" from The Tonic's The Dash album. In Houston, he continued working underground with local rap ministries such as PHF Productions, AZA, CRS and Bless'T.
In Texas, he is survived by his wife Natalie James who gave birth to Jana James in 2005. In Pennsylvania, he is survived by Genesis James (9yrs), Juan James Jr. (11yrs.), and Chavonna James (17yrs).

Oh man, this is really sad. I can't believe Enock is gone? So Awethentic...Brother has been under the radar for so long one would have thought he is in the studio recording some banging tracks and then drop em like bombs and regain his status...not like this. Oh man, he surely will be missed but he will always be "still here" in Spirit.

Thanks for posting the news for me while I was traveling this weekend. Also thanks for all the links to tribute videos and messages.
I spoke to Nock's wife Natalie this afternoon as she was making preparations for the funeral. She said she was greatly encouraged by all the calls and messages, but still dealing with it all.
She said she broke down when working on the funeral arrangements because it just didn't seem real or fair that she should have to be doing this at such a young age. She also kept their 4-year-old daughter Jana home from school today because she was crying last night about missing her daddy.
I haven't had a chance to visit (out of town all weekend and live about an hour away from them) but know that several Houston artists and friends have stopped by to look after her. Plus, her family is close so I'm sure that has helped.
Our convo got cut short because the church beeped in during our call and she needed to talk to them.
So, I'm not aware of any immediate financial or physical needs but will try to keep folks posted.
Obviously please keep them in your prayers.

Lindy and I would like to say we are sorry for your loss natalie. God Bless you and the kids girl.
Juan and Natalies house is around the corner from my moms n pops house(literally). When I would get to that side of town to visit my parents I'd swang around the corner hoping to catch him outside. I regret not stopping alot of times after not seeing him outside. He always had encouraging words and I always felt better after having chopped it up with him. Wish I would've been able to kick it with them more. They came over to the house a couple years ago for my bday. Another time for a barbecue and recording session. They had us over for spaghetti. He was a great man who had a loving wife. My prayers go out to his wife natalie. Know he's waiting in heaven.

Praise God for the life of this brother. I first heard Enock on his solo cd AWEthentic with Much Luvv. I thought his boldness to show his mistakes was so needed in HHH. Just hearing that ministered to me. I'm praying for his family and that God bless and keep his kids. I pray the Holy Spirit of God the comforter just rest upon them in this trying time. I was always a fan of Enock growing up but I had a great privledge to meet him about 3 years ago when he came to ABQ to open up for T-Bone. I was amazed at what an honst and REAL guy he was. He was one of the nicest guys I think I have ever met. He loved God so much and really studied the bible. Like alot of others have said before, he always was concerned about people. He would ask how are you and he really meant HOW ARE YOU. He really wanted to know. Everytime we visit Houston we always look forward to visiting with Juan, Natalie and Jana. My day started off very sad and heartbroken.I will be praying for his kids and Natalie.

I met Enoch a few yrs back, way b4 this music stuff, he was ministering at a HHH show all I remember is how transparent he was. His songs were ontime for my life literally. I was on the edge w/a lot of things. I literally tracked him down not knowing who he was considering I didn't know the members of CM. But anyway man dude was so encouring and down to earth I knew it was God sent. I appreciated his journey becus it brought him to a place of realness in his music. My point, I'm a product of the seed that was sown in my life thru Enoch ministry real talk. Myself and the other artist had a great time that yr with him it definitly brought together untiy in the body as well. U have forever touched my life big Homie. RIP ENOCH.

Man when my brother gabe called me crying i almost couldnt believe it. I know that he is in a better place. I had the privledge to meet and knowthis man of God. My wife is a label mate of his on phf productions. Everytiem we would come down to record or visit from albuquerque knock , nat, and jana Would come over and we would kick it. Our daughters love each other. I was always a huge fan of his music and when i finally got the chance to meet him he truly was a man of God. I remember him putting me in check but not in a bad way in a im worried and concerned about you way the first time i met him. He would pull out a bible and give you the word if i ever had a question. Out of all the cm dudes that i knew I can't say I knew enock real well... we would do the occasional industry chop it up ... yo.. hello.. what up etc.. but in my mind it didnt really matter cuz Way before I had a deal I was just a lowly inner city youth pastor who used to bump the first 2 cross movment joints as I got my mind ready for dealing w/ about 120 housing project kids from Ft. Myers...
Enock always stood out w/ his booming voice and content... I think i pictured him to be like 6'3 265 and built like an inner linebacker... when i finally met him he was actually shorter than me! Lol... but on the real his humilty carried him like a giant though... I was impressed w/ his later stuff and how he really shined in a transparent way and sought out to build w/ cats who sometimes felt shunned by the heavy theological side of HHH (myself included). His efforts and content won't be missed ... i pray we continue to use his burden to be "awethentic" and a bridge builder...

I had the privilege of interviewing Enock (for Gospelflava.com) in 2003 and I kept in touch with him for a few years after that. I always told him thanks for not quitting after moving to Houston. I totally agree with Rob Hodge. He was very genuine and real. I am so saddened by this, but we have to keep his wife Natalie and the kids in our prayers. This hurts. If you are a part of the HHH community, PLEASE STOP the hating. It is time out for all of the madness. We need to be together and on our knees. I want to thank Tre-9 for being a conduit for unity!

Man, praise GOD for this Dude. I celebrate his life and ministry. The Lyrical Raw-ness my brother Enock had in his music was contagious. I think when we look back on the past 10 years, we will see that Enock inspired a whole a whole generation of hardcore MC's to be as intense and boisterous as they wanna be for the Kingdom. I also appreciate the open-ness and transparency he displayed in "AWEthenic."

"Let me first say that I am heartbroken on the Passing of Juan James a.k.a. Enoch. I just talked to Juan 3 weeks ago, wow. Many don't know but we both went to Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia together. I knew him from the streets of North Philly way before Christian Hip Hop. He was a genuine brother. Always kept it 100 every time you would see him. He was a passionate Man of God that was very transparent. He used to talk to me about the disappointment he had with the Christian Hip Hop genre. All the slander, backbiting, hypocrisy and fakeness that has infected the culture. His pure desire was to truly walk with God and impact the world. I'm blessed and privileged to say I have known this Man of God. I issue a challenge to not just to the Christian Hip Hop community but to us as children of God. Most of our so-called "beefs" with each other over various reasons is pure vanity and in the end meaningless. I pray in the midst of all our many different personalities, doctrines and backgrounds.... we can keep in focus that Christ said the "World" will KNOW we belong to Him by the LOVE we show to each other. Not how many bible verse you know, what bible school you attended and how on point your fellowship is in comparison to other churches, but by the simple attribute of Genuine love for you fellow brother in Christ. May God bless Juan's wife and family, you have my prayers. To the whole Cross Movement family I love you and praying for you as well.
