Born in St. Catherine Jamaica, Christian Rapper Tyrone Andrew Thompson Jr. witnessed God transform his life from a young boy of hurt and confusion to now a God fearing young man living with purpose and meaning. Tyrone Andrew's mother was pregnant with him at the young age of sixteen and as she was too young to take care of him at that time, Tyrone was raised up for the first eleven years of his life by his grandmother in Portmore, Jamaica. When he was 11 years old, he moved to Brooklyn, NY to live with his mother and it was in these next few years that Tyrone suffered a challenging life of having to live in a homeless shelter while taking care of his pregnant mother. In addition, he began to involve himself with the wrong crowd, engaging in fights, and constantly skipping school. His mother noticed his change of behavior and knew that there was only one thing she could do to change his conduct before it was too late and that was to send him back to Kingston to live with his father.
When Tyrone moved in with his father (also known as PaPa San) back in Jamaica, he was shocked at what he saw in the man he knew to be his dad. He was nothing like the unfaithful man that he remembered but had transformed into a man of honor, affection and respect and showed Tyrone a new kind of love for him that he had never seen before. Witnessing this, Tyrone was curious as to what caused this drastic change and it was this curiosity and desire to have whatever it was his dad had that led him to being introduced to Jesus Christ by his father. Through living and being influenced by his father life and actions, Tyrone accepted Christ into his life at the age of 15 and has been striving to serve the Lord ever since.
Starting at a young age, Tyrone has always had a passion for rapping and grew to love it more and more as he found ways to develop his talent at several rapping occasions in high school. He started off rapping about hollow things of the world, the things that he always thought would satisfy his deep desires but after his conversion, he began to change his lyrics and turned them around from glorifying the flesh to glorifying the Lord. Pursuing Christian rap changed his life while God began to open doors for Tyrone to rap in front of people in His name. God started to use Tyrones music to encourage people and share the gospel through rap. Eventually, God led Tyrone to attending college at the Moody Bible Institute where he became a Pastoral major and was taught the word of God with excellence and it was here that God shaped his Christian character through the faculty, his classes, and his relationships with fellow believers.
Using all these things, Tyrone was able to expand his creativity in song writing as well as being given the opportunity to rap in several events and chapels and being granted the honor of being subject to the first senior rap recital at Moody. He graduated in the year 2009 and is now a youth pastor at New Hope Bible Church. Tyrone continues to use his music to reach young people. He is currently working on his first album The Road which will be released on May 2nd ,2010. His former works include Papa Sans album higher heights (Stellar Nominated, Dove Awards Nominated) as well as being featured on Katalysts Death by Design album. Tyrone hopes to be able to continue to use rapping and the preaching of Gods word to give believers encouragement and to bring others to the Lord.
Rapping is just as much an art as painting. The lyrics are like the colors, they portray whats in the heart. God has blessed me this ability so that I would use it to inspire and encourage his people, pointing all the glory to Him.
Now his Album is Coming out May 2nd and would like for everyone to cop the album.
