On the heels of his New York City Debut and his appearance on New York’s 98.7 Kiss-FM Gospel Hip Hop Artist J PROPHET is releasing a new mixtape entitled GETTING MY SHAPE UP VOL. 1 on Friday, September 10th.  That Friday, there will be a viral listening party at 4PM hosted by Angie BEE on www.v108gospelvibe.net which will feature an interview with J PROPHET, as well as commentary on his ministry and GETTING MY SHAPE UP VOL. 1.  There will also be a major announcement regarding some recent developments.

J PROPHET looks to 2 Corinthians 5:17 as inspiration for this project: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.”  J PROPHET says, “When we look to the Almighty and can learn to lean on Him, and lean on Him alone, we can enhance our character, become fresh beings, and strengthen our form – get our shape up.”

GETTING MY SHAPE UP VOL. 1 offers introspective reflection as well as social commentary on each song.  Tracks like “Overdosin,” “Threatened,” “Procab Interlude (Au Naturale)” and “I’m Flying” highlight the challenges and triumphs of the Christian journey.  “Exhibit A (Speak to Me)” and “Undercover Angels” are both songs that rely on story-telling to convey the presence of the Holy Spirit in everyday life while tracks like “Over the Land” which features Joshua Bennett and “Sky is the Limit” which features Antoine deliver important messages of peace, love, and faith.  This project also features remixed and remastered versions of  “He Is Shining,” “All I Need,” and “I Ain’t Scared,” which all appeared on Ghostwriter Vol. 3: Hope in the Valley.

A 2010 graduate of Yale University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies, J PROPHET is now attending Yale Divinity School where he has begun a three-year Master of Divinity Program.  GETTING MY SHAPE UP VOL. 1 can be downloaded at www.jprophet.com.
