Director Nomar Rosa of Seventhwire Films releases his highly anticipated short film called “The Book of Songs.” You may know Nomar as the creative director behind the music videos for Rawsrvnt and Blaze Torch. With his unique cinematic style and particular story telling on low to no budget shoots, Nomar has caught the attention of many believers with this powerful story about Physical and Spiritual abuse. The story centers around a young boy named JB who with the loss of his father has found no hope in life. Although he seeks to be happy, his dark secret haunts him and he rejects any form of happiness.
“There is always hope for the hopeful,” Nomar said. "There are many young boys and girls who are right now going through some type of abuse. Whether its physical, emotional etc. Many suicides in todays generation are because of bullying. The film is targeting the effects of bullying but in three forms; Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual. It's not easy being young and believing in something so hard and constantly being rejected."
The film enters a realm that is always discussed in many sermons but is rarely shown in films, and that is the "Spiritual Abuse." "When I wrote this film with my colleagues, we knew the theme would be about bullying, but in what way?" Nomar said. " After the script was finished I couldn't help but read it over and over and not being satisfied with it, something just didn't feel right. Something needed to be added and it hit me. As christians, we battle not by flesh alone, but by the evil ones (Ephesians 6:12) and I thought to myself, when God is about to work with someone, who is the first person there to try and stop it? Satan is! So I had to implement a way where we can show how the evil one can manipulate us and bring fear in our hearts when we are most vulnerable. In essence, "Bully" us. No matter how much we want to be happy, he will always try to destroy the hope we want to have again. It is by our faith and trust in God that we can defeat him."
Nomar's plan was to deliver this message of hope and to generate concern about the world of bullying. Many organizations have been developed to help this act of violence against todays generation and this film is a part of the awareness. It was a project he felt needed to be done and fast. "We made this film for no more than $500" Nomar said. "Most of it went to feeding the actors and for their transportation. We had no pre-production, it was just one of those "here is the script, lets work it out now" type of projects. The schedule was fierce because I had to accommodate everyones time, we shot many scenes the week of August 8th and had to come back and shoot remaining scenes October 8th. It was a struggle just to shoot and with no special equipment. The crew were great helping hands who had never been a part of a set, so as tough as it was for me, I was learning with them so it was exciting."
Nomar promises bigger and more budgeted and planned projects in the near future. He asks for your continued support in his ministry as he develops his unique style of reaching to millions of people in need of the gospel.
