Fresh off the heels of his Stellar Awards performance with Canton Jones and Da' T.R.U.T.H., Lecrae is now geared up for SXSW - where both Reach Records and DaSouth.com will host a soundstage - and also preparing to drop his very first mixtape on May 3rd, which will be available as a free download.

When asked by Unrefrined Hype what his plans are for this year, Lecrae had this to say:

Trying to inspire people. Hopefully hitting up urban areas and doing workshops and conferences. Dealing with guys who haven’t had any direction. I’m working on a mixtape with Don Cannon coming out May 3rd. More collaborations with Statik Selektah, 9th Wonder, Murs, Dee-1. And I’m working on a new album that will drop this year as well.

Also, in a recent interview with Philip Rood of Rapzilla, Lecrae stated that this mixtape is mainly "aimed at mainstream," and "hip hop in general."

I'm not saying that a Christian audience shouldn't listen to this. I think it'll be beneficial for'em. However, I don't think you're going to get the same type of messages you're used to, nor the same kind of music .It's not gonna be a lot of commercial music on here. I'm just gone be raw, uncut Hip-Hop.

Lecrae says that his aim is to build a bridge for those who wrestle with Christianity and Hip-Hop, allowing them to see that there are still people who are redeemed, and a part of the Hip-Hop culture.
