Just after Pastor Jomo K. Johnson called for a boycott of rapper Meek Mill's music, Meek has apologized for offending Christians with his trivialization and perversion of sacred themes in his song "Amen". This situation grew into a monster. Among many controversial responses, there was an interview between Pastor Jomo and Meek where Meek and others accused Pastor Jomo of pulling a publicity stunt because of calling for the boycott and the response song he made.
Pastor Jomo responded to this accusation in an interview with our very own Trackstarz saying he tried to contact Meek but Meek refused to speak with him. Also in the interview, Pastor Jomo calls Meek out for trivializing rape but Meek explicitly denied ever doing so. Pastor Jomo was referring to this song (you can skip to the 2:14 mark). Some Christians namely Thi'sl and Humble Tip have also weighed in on this issue. In response to Meek's apology, Pastor Jomo has called off the boycott. Read what Pastor Jomo had to say about the apology below:
Yesterday, Meek went on BET 106 and Park and acknowledged the controversy of the song, “Amen”. He apology was dodgy, (Video Here – Skip to Next to last frame) but he released an informal statement through 106 and Park’s twitter page stating:
“If u feel disrespected – I’m sorry. maybe I could do a remix w/a choir or sumthin..” - @MeekMill on “Amen” controversy. #meekmill106 [link]
“I can understand how people find it offensive.. wasn’t tryin to disrespect” .. “I didn’t drop the song with bad intentions” -@MeekMill [link]
This apology was the condition for lifting the Call-To-Action boycott. Therefore, I want to say as a follower of Christ, that I completely forgive Robert Williams for this song because Jesus has completely forgiven me.
