A sampling of the canned good and socks collected for the Houston Food Bank
On Saturday, November 10 members of Houston’s vibrant and active Christian rap community joined together for a concert and awards show that raised both food and awareness for Houston’s hungry.
The Holy Hip Hop for Hunger event was organized by Von Won and the Kingz Camp crew handed out awards to local hip hop ministries for their efforts throughout the past year. Attendees were asked to contribute 5 canned goods/1 a package of men’s socks (or more) for entry.
Von Won told me there were over 1,000 nonperishable food items and couple hundred pairs of socks collected.

Husband, Father, Pastor, Artist, Producer, are just some words that describe Tim (timtwo) English. After pursuing a degree in music production and six years of music evangelism Tim decided to go into youth ministry.
After the release of his freshman album "Speaklife" in fall of 2011 he immediately began work on his second album "Supercalifragilisticexpialicrunkness" when asked why that album title he answered, "I tried to think of the word that best describes the music on this cd".
Being a youth pastor for the last two years Tim has had the opportunity to be a part of a thriving ministry. Over the past 24 months they have seen over 300 salvations and continual growth. "I believe it's a combination of two things; God has anointed this ministry, and music has infiltrated the situation",Tim stated. "Students spend over 7 hours a day in media related entertainment, so I use the gift God has given me as a tool to take back some of those hours and use them for his glory" mentioned the artist.

'Transparency: The Great Oppression'

Dishon's Debut EP titled "Transparency: The Great Oppression" tells the people about a time when he was lost. It also gives vivid details of a time when he fell hard as a immature Christian. He became oppressed by the world, blinded to the truth and eventually ended up living for things of the world. Nevertheless it is by grace through faith that he has been saved. Dishon says "I had to do this EP to show everyone where I came from. I don't think that most Hip Hop artists are transparent enough. They just do what they think is cool because everyone else is doing it. This gives us a false image of who they really are. This album shows that even as a Christian you can fall...we all fall short of Gods glory!
I just wanted to keep it real with my people. Sin struggle is real in our community as well as the world but there is hope for us all. I also wanted to show the non believers that I can relate to them. We are all messed up! believers and non believers. I wanted to reach out to them...they should know that we care about them. I'm here for them." Dishon and his team plan on releasing the EP on January 8th 2013. This EP will be followed up with "The Road Home" which will also be released in 2013. "The Road Home" is said to have more theology and sound doctrine. Its point of focus will be on love, redemption, and grace.
